My 1 Year Revival 🔥 Lesson 8
Lesson 8 — Be Hating (Sin)
Texts: Psalm 97:10; Romans 12:9; 1 Corinthians 6:18–20; 2 Samuel 11–12
Principle: What you tolerate will eventually dominate.
Precept: Hate evil; cling to good. Flee, confess, and cut off occasions to sin.
Cohesive Overview:
Revival does not cozy up to what Christ died to conquer. David’s story warns us: small looks become long gazes; secrecy becomes strategy; sin compounds; sorrow multiplies. Yet Psalm 51 shows repentance: “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned.” Sin hinders prayer, dulls worship, sabotages witness. Hatred of sin is not sour legalism; it is loyal love for God.
Practically, we stay away, look away, and walk away. We “make no provision for the flesh.” We replace lies with truth, secrecy with fellowship, isolation with accountability. Grace is not permission to sin; it is power to say no.
Keys of Submission:
Alertness — know your patterns and places.
Avoidance — change routes and routines.
Accountability — bring trusted believers near.
Atonement — confess quickly; rest in Christ’s cleansing.
Alignment — fill the vacated space with Word, prayer, service.
Practice This Week:
Name one recurring temptation; make a “flee plan” (who, where, what instead).
Memorize 1 Corinthians 10:13; quote it when tempted.
Schedule a candid conversation with a mature believer.
Declaration: “I hate evil and cling to good; by grace I flee, confess, and walk free.”
