Leson 43: Be Walking (Heirs) 👑📜 (Identity, Inheritance, Legacy)

Texts: Romans 8:1–17; Galatians 4:4–7; Ephesians 1:11–14

Principle: The Spirit of adoption secures our identity and shares Christ’s inheritance.

Precept: Live as children of God—cry “Abba,” follow the Spirit, and steward a legacy that outlasts you.

Cohesive Overview:

Paul says we are led by the Spirit as sons; we cry “Abba, Father” (Rom 8:15). Adoption means you’re wanted, named, and given access. The same Spirit who raised Jesus dwells in you (v.11)—power for holy living now and hope of resurrection later. As heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ (v.17), our inheritance includes forgiveness, family, the Spirit, and ultimately glory with Jesus. Heirs don’t live from scarcity or striving; they live from sonship and stewardship.

Walking as heirs reshapes motives (gratitude, not guilt), methods (Spirit-led, not flesh-driven), and metrics (faithfulness over flash). Legacy is not ego; it’s faith handed forward—word, walk, and works that point the next generation to Christ. Suffering doesn’t cancel inheritance; it confirms sonship and prepares weighty glory (v.18). The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we belong (v.16), especially when doubts whisper or trials loom.

Keys (🗝️):

Abba Cry 💬 — Pray relationally; enjoy the Father.

Assurance 🔐 — Listen for the Spirit’s witness over self-accusation.

Authority 🛡️ — Resist fear/slavery; stand in sonship.

Assignment 📦 — Steward gifts, time, and treasure for kingdom legacy.

Anticipation 🌅 — Suffer with Christ → be glorified with Christ.

Practice (🛠️):

Begin prayer with “Abba…” for one week; linger there.

Write a one-page legacy letter (what you want your faith to hand forward).

Take one generational action: mentor, invest, encourage a younger believer.

Declaration (🎯):

“I am a child of God, an heir with Christ—I walk in Spirit-given power, identity, and legacy.”
