Lesson 38: Be High-Thingless 🏔️⬇️ (Humbling What Exalts Itself)

Texts: 2 Corinthians 10:5; 1 Peter 5:5–9; Colossians 2:8–10

Principle: “High things” are proud positions—ideologies, arguments, or attitudes that elevate themselves above God’s revelation.

Precept: Dethrone prideful elevations with humble submission to Christ and His Word.

Cohesive Overview:

Not every battle is a personal habit; some are ideological heights—cultural narratives, academic boasts, spiritual counterfeits—that climb above the knowledge of God. Paul says we cast down these high things. How? By refusing to be taken captive by hollow philosophy (Col 2:8) and by clothing ourselves with humility (1 Pet 5). Pride is the scaffolding that lets the lie climb; humility removes the ladder. 🪜

Humility is not self-hatred; it is God-alignment—agreeing that Jesus is Lord and His Word is final. We submit mind first (Scripture over speculation), motive second (God’s glory over ours), and method third (Spirit’s fruit over flesh’s fury). We resist the devil from a humble posture, and heaven gives greater grace. High places fall where meek saints kneel, learn, and live the truth with courage and gentleness.
