THE WALK 👣
👣 Lesson 1 👣 Step 1 👣 Step into Salvation
👣 Being Born Again
Starting a Relationship with the Lord
Opening Question
If I were to ask you:
How is your relationship with God?
How would you respond?
• Distant
• Far off
• Just okay
• Close
• Intimate
This study is designed to help you understand your relationship with the Lord, or what the Bible calls a:
👉 “Walk with the Lord”
Opening Prayer 🙏
“Father, help us to understand this relationship that You want to have with each of us.
Father, You have paid the ultimate price to have fellowship with sinful man.
So Father, help us to dig into the Scriptures and see the truth of how You truly want to walk with us.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
I. What Is a Walk with the Lord? 👣
A walk with the Lord refers to a personal, intimate relationship with God—a daily fellowship with Him through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
This is not religion.
This is not routine.
This is not outward form.
👉 This is a real, living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
📖 2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
📖 Colossians 2:6
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:”
📖 John 14:16-17
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth… for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
📖 Micah 6:8
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
📖 Genesis 5:24
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
📖 Amos 3:3
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
👉 Before you can walk in this kind of relationship, you must first be brought into that relationship through salvation.
II. Why Don’t We Have a Natural Relationship with the Lord? 🚫
Why don’t we naturally have a real, intimate relationship or fellowship with God?
👉 The answer is sin.
Sin is disobedience to God, and it has separated us from Him.
This problem began with Adam and Eve, and that sinful nature has been passed down to all mankind.
📖 Romans 5:12
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
📖 Psalm 51:5
“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”
📖 Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
📖 Isaiah 59:2
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Because of sin:
• We do not naturally walk with God
• We do not naturally seek God
• We are separated from fellowship with Him
📖 Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
👉 This is why every person must be saved.
III. The Good News — Jesus Desperately Desires a Relationship with You ✝️
God did not leave you separated—
👉 He desires a real, personal relationship with you

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
📖 1 Peter 2:24
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree… by whose stripes ye were healed.”
📖 John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock…”
👉 He is inviting you into a relationship with Him

“And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean.”
📖 Mark 5:34
“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
