THE WALK 👣
Lesson 9 — Walk in Focus (Abiding & Resting in Christ)
Opening Question
What has your attention and focus the most?
• The Lord
• Daily responsibilities
• Problems and worries
• Entertainment and distractions
👉 Your answer reveals what is directing your walk
Opening Prayer 🙏
“Father, help us to keep our eyes fixed on You.
Teach us to abide in Christ and rest in Your presence.
Remove distractions and help us stay focused on what truly matters.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
Lesson Scripture 📖
📖 John 15:4-5
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
📖 Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
I. What Does It Mean to Walk in Focus? 👣🎯
Walking in focus means:
👉 Keeping your attention fixed on Jesus
👉 Abiding in Him daily
👉 Resting in His presence and power
👉 Depending on Him instead of yourself
The Christian walk becomes weak when our focus moves away from Christ.
📖 John 15:5
“…for without me ye can do nothing.”
👉 Focus is not just concentration—
👉 It is staying connected to Jesus
II. What Does It Mean to Abide? 🌿
To abide means:
👉 To remain
👉 To stay connected
👉 To continue in fellowship
👉 To rest in Christ
📖 John 15:4
“Abide in me, and I in you…”
Just as a branch must remain connected to the vine:
👉 We must remain connected to Christ
III. Why Must We Stay Focused on Christ? 🤔
1. Because the World Distracts Us
📖 1 John 2:15
“Love not the world…”
The world constantly pulls our attention away from God.
2. Because the Flesh Wanders
📖 Romans 7:18
“…in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing…”
Our flesh naturally drifts away from spiritual focus.
3. Because Jesus Is Our Source
📖 John 15:5
“…without me ye can do nothing.”
Without Christ:
👉 There is no spiritual strength
👉 No lasting fruit
👉 No victorious walk
4. Because Focus Produces Peace
📖 Isaiah 26:3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee…”
Focused minds produce peaceful hearts.
IV. Faith’s Fixed Focus 🔑👀
(From your revival lesson structure)
Walking in focus means developing:
👉 Faith’s Fixed Focus
1. FAITH — Trust Him
📖 Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
👉 Faith trusts God even when circumstances are unclear.
2. FIXED — Look to Him
📖 Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
👉 Keep your eyes on Jesus—not the storm.
3. FOCUS — Seek Him
📖 Psalm 121:1-2
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD…”
👉 Your help comes from the Lord.
V. The 6 Keys to Walking in Focus 🔑🎯
1. Priority — Put Jesus First
📖 Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God…”
2. Persistent — Stay Connected Daily
📖 John 15:4
“Abide in me…”
3. Purpose — Focus on Eternal Things
📖 Colossians 3:2
“Set your affection on things above…”
4. Plan — Remove Distractions
📖 Luke 10:41-42
“…thou art careful and troubled about many things:
But one thing is needful…”
5. Place — Spend Quiet Time with God
📖 Mark 1:35
“And in the morning… there prayed.”
6. Process — Continually Return Your Focus to Christ
📖 2 Corinthians 4:18
“While we look not at the things which are seen…”
👉 Refocus daily on Jesus
VI. The Invitation — What Are You Focused On? ❓
👉 Are your eyes on the world?
👉 Are your eyes on problems?
👉 Or are your eyes on Jesus?
📖 Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus…”
👉 Your focus determines the direction of your walk.
VII. A Simple Prayer 🙏
“Father, help me to keep my focus on You.
Teach me to abide in Christ daily and trust You fully.
Remove distractions from my life and help me walk closely with You.
In Jesus’name, Amen.”
VIII. Your Walk Is Growing 👣
When you walk in focus:
👉 Your peace increases
👉 Your faith grows
👉 Your relationship deepens
👉 Your life produces fruit
