THE WALK ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Lesson 12 โ€” Walk Aware

Opening Question

How aware are you of what God is doing around you?

โ€ข I see God working daily

โ€ข Sometimes I recognize His work

โ€ข Rarely do I notice Him working

โ€ข I don't think about it very much

๐Ÿ‘‰ Your answer reveals how spiritually aware you are in your walk with the Lord.

Opening Prayer ๐Ÿ™

โ€œFather, open our eyes to see what You are doing around us. Help us to become spiritually aware of Your presence, Your leading, Your opportunities, and Your work in our lives. Keep us from becoming distracted or spiritually asleep. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.โ€

Lesson Scripture ๐Ÿ“–

๐Ÿ“– Ephesians 5:15-17

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."

I. What Does It Mean to Walk Aware? ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ‘€

Walking aware means:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Being spiritually alert

๐Ÿ‘‰ Recognizing God's presence

๐Ÿ‘‰ Understanding the times in which we live

๐Ÿ‘‰ Seeing divine opportunities around us

๐Ÿ‘‰ Being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit

The opposite of awareness is spiritual carelessness.

๐Ÿ“– Ephesians 5:15

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,"

The word circumspectly means:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Carefully

๐Ÿ‘‰ Diligently

๐Ÿ‘‰ Accurately

๐Ÿ‘‰ Looking all around

Walking aware means living intentionally with spiritual eyes open.

II. Why Must We Walk Aware? ๐Ÿค”

1. Because the Days Are Evil

๐Ÿ“– Ephesians 5:16

"Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

The world is moving away from God.

๐Ÿ‘‰ We cannot afford spiritual carelessness.

2. Because Satan Is Active

๐Ÿ“– 1 Peter 5:8

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

Awareness protects us from spiritual attack.

3. Because Opportunities Are Limited

๐Ÿ“– John 9:4

"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."

We must recognize the opportunities God gives us.

4. Because God Is Always Working

๐Ÿ“– John 5:17

"But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work."

God is at work around us every day.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Spiritual awareness helps us join Him.

III. Areas in Which We Must Be Aware ๐Ÿ”

1. Be Aware of God's Presence

๐Ÿ“– Psalm 139:7-10

"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."

God is always present.

2. Be Aware of Temptation

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 26:41

"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Awareness helps us avoid unnecessary failure.

3. Be Aware of Divine Opportunities

๐Ÿ“– Colossians 4:5

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time."

Every day presents opportunities to serve and witness.

4. Be Aware of Others' Needs

๐Ÿ“– Philippians 2:4

"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."

Spiritual awareness includes compassion.

IV. Jesus Walked Aware โœ๏ธ

Jesus continually recognized the needs around Him.

1. He Saw Zacchaeus

๐Ÿ“– Luke 19:5

"And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him..."

2. He Saw Blind Bartimaeus

๐Ÿ“– Mark 10:51

"And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?"

3. He Saw the Woman at the Well

๐Ÿ“– John 4:7

"There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink."

Jesus was never too distracted to notice people.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Walking aware means seeing people the way Jesus saw them.

V. The 6 Keys to Walking Aware ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ‘ฃ

๐Ÿ“– Ephesians 5:17

2. Persistent โ€” Stay Spiritually Alert

๐Ÿ“– 1 Peter 5:8

"Be sober, be vigilant..."

3. Purpose โ€” Live Intentionally

๐Ÿ“– Psalm 90:12

๐Ÿ“– Luke 21:34

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life..."

๐Ÿ“– James 4:8

6. Process โ€” Watch, Pray, and Respond

"Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is."

๐Ÿ‘‰ Awareness requires action.

VI. The Invitation โ€” Are You Spiritually Awake? โ“

๐Ÿ‘‰ Are you noticing God's presence?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Are you recognizing divine opportunities?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Are you aware of spiritual dangers?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Are you sensitive to the Holy Spirit?

๐Ÿ“– Romans 13:11

Will you choose to walk aware?
